“Travelling is all about gaining new experiences and making new memories.”
Location: Cabiao, Nueva Ecija & Arayat, Pampanga
Date: April 18 – 23, 2019
I usually spend my Holy Week at my province in Arayat, Pampanga but this year, I spent most of my time spending it with Madj in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, which is her beautiful hometown. And here’s the 8 highlights of our Holy Week Vacation:
1. Mountain Biking in Brgy. Sinipit, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
It’s one of the activities Madj and her younger sister, Sophia, always love to do this summer vacation. It’s one of their bonding activities.
I definitely want to try this kind of activity in Cabiao. So, on the first day of my vacation, We set a plan to ride a bike. We started biking at 5 o’clock in the morning and wrap-up at half past seven.
While riding the bike, you’ll also get a chance to see the scenic overlooking view of Mt. Arayat, which is one of the most rewarding moments when biking or jogging in this place. Perhaps, Brgy. Sinipit, Cabiao is one of the runners and bikers favorite because of its chill vibe. We saw more than 20 joggers around the area and more than 10 bikers like us. Also, you’ll get a chance to see the magnificent sunrise.
If my GPS and activity tracker serves me well, we biked for more or less 12 km. It was not that far but this was enough to kick-start this mountain biking activity. It was truly fun and fulfilling.
2. Taking care of our Fur babies
It was the best time to play with our fur babies, Cali & Courtney because we had a lot of time to hang out with them. Hanging out with our fur babies is one thing that we really missed.
3. Dine at Hub-Eat Boardgame Café
We craved for buffalo chicken wings!
We ordered two flavors for 1 dozen of Buffalo Chicken wings: Garlic Parmesan and Buffalo. It was Madj’s first time to learn the game rules of Exploding Kittens. Who do you think wins the game?
4. Good Friday in Arayat, Pampanga
It was a fun-filled day with my family who’s also spending their vacation in Arayat, Pampanga. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to bring Madj because she has other commitments on this day. Also, I wasn’t able to see and took a photo of my cousin in his annual penitence which was a norm for me every holy week vacation. We just stayed in the old house of my late grandmother. We picked Indian mangoes with a long stick so we could have pasalubong for everybody. We eat lunch and afternoon snacks together and bought affordable Halo-halo for everyone as our dessert.
We also got a chance to see picturesque place near the tree house few kilometers from our home. I was able to see Baby Gavine MJ again. Even though, she has chickenpox, she’s still as lovely and cute as she’ll ever be.
5. Madj’s Birthday Celebration
We celebrated Madj’s Birthday with her family and closest relatives. They cooked special sopas and traditional pancit that represents long life and good health. She also got her birthday cake and ice cream with varieties of her favorite flavors. It was a simple celebration yet gratifying because of the unconditional love and genuine presence given by her family.
6. Fiesta in Brgy. Bagong Buhay, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija
It was indeed a good thing that Brgy. Bagong Buhay, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija held their this year’s fiesta during the Easter Sunday, which was also a festival and holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus from the dead.
It was really an unforgettable day for Madj’s family because they were able to meet again their colleagues, former classmates, friends and relatives. They met my relatives from Arayat, Pampanga.
7. Watch Action-Packed Basketball League
Since Mayor’s Cup Summer League ’19 in Cabiao is still on the run, we had a chance to witness the action-packed and intense semi-final rounds for the Senior and Junior Basketball League, where in three cousins of Madj were part of the two contending teams. Go for the Gold Team Brgy. San. Roque!
8. Visited the Hall of Justice in Gapan, Nueva Ecija
I accompanied Madj to Gapan’s Hall of Justice to follow up and process her important papers. We hope to have a positive feedback and to get it done as soon as possible.
That’s it! Hope you also had a great and memorable Holy Week Vacation with your loved ones and family same as we do.
